Thrive
At Langafel we adopted the Thrive Approach in 2016 as a trauma-informed social, emotional and wellbeing intervention. We use this approach to improve children's mental health and wellbeing. Staff are trained in the Thrive approach which gives us a way to be with children that builds positive, nurturing relationships within the learning environment.
Thrive can be used in a 1:1 session with a trained Thrive practitioner, in small groups, as a whole class approach and a whole school approach. It can help children to build resilience, improve their attainment and in a 3-way collaboration between school, parents and the child it can improve attendance and behaviour.
At the bottom of this page you will find information in the documents that explains about how we use Thrive with children at Langafel. A further document shares what parents can learn from attending a Family Thrive course, which is run by myself, Claire Holmes. Please get in contact if you would like to know more.
Below you can also see a simple Thrive based infographic which suggests a straightforward but very effective way to use language to support and manage children's emotional and social development - WING. When you are feeling stressed or finding your children are being difficult give WING a go by starting your sentences with WING words. See what happens as it can feel quite magical as your child hesitates and thinks for themselves!
