Welcome to UKS2 and to the final stage of a pupil’s primary education. It is another step up in their learning, giving them opportunities to take on extra responsibilities and to continue to grow academically, socially and emotionally.

Upper Key Stage 2 is made up of the classes:

Falcon: Mr Martin

Flamingo: Miss Dodd (UKS2 Phase Lead)

Owl: Mrs Pooley and Mrs Wade

Phoenix: Mrs Bonner (Nurture Class)

Peacock: Mrs Clark

TA's: Miss Turner, Mrs Holmes, Mrs Pasquet, Miss Ingram and Miss Lansdell.

In UKS2 the children will have their base class but are separated into Year 5 and 6 maths and English groups in the morning where Miss Dodd, Mrs Pooley and Mrs Wade will teach the Year 6s and Year 5s are taught by Mr Martin and Mrs Clark. This helps support their foundations in these core subjects and teachers are able to target key skills needed in the curriculum. In the afternoons they will return to their base class.

Phoenix class is our Nurture Class which is a smaller class that closely follows the six principles of nurture helping children that need that extra supportive environment.

Pupils are expected to take increasing ownership of their learning, understanding the importance of having high expectations of themselves and working hard to meet these. Encouragement is given to allow all pupils to recognise their strengths and build on all aspects of their learning. They are supported to reflect on our Christian and Learning Values and how these can be used to move themselves forward.

Pupils in Year 6 will enjoy the opportunity of taking part in a fantastic residential, wow the school in the Leaver’s Production and cement amazing memories at the Leaver’s celebration.

Year 5 will also have amazing opportunities such as Bikeability and School Council.

We hope that all pupils leave us as confident, well-rounded learners who are successfully equipped to rise to the challenges of secondary education.
