Welcome back, Penguin Class!

This year, we have lots of exciting learning planned, including fascinating topics such as Rivers, Roman Britain, Coasts, and The Americas, to name just a few.

Our PE days this year will be Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure children come to school in their PE kits on those days. We’ll also have swimming lessons during Terms 1, 5, and 6, which will replace one of our regular PE sessions each week – for Term 1 swimming lessons will take place on Wednesday afternoons.

At the start of every term, I’ll share updates on Class Dojo outlining the key topics we’ll be covering in all subjects, along with any important dates to remember, so please keep an eye out for those.

This year, our homework focus will be on reading and times tables. Spending just a few minutes each day reading with your child – or listening to them read – really helps to develop fluency and vocabulary. Similarly, confidence with times tables is essential for many areas of maths, so regular practice at home makes a huge difference.

I’m very excited to get to know the new Year 3s and also to welcome back the new Year 4s.  I am sure this year will be fun, as well as a productive year ahead!
