Turtle Class

Teacher: Mrs Keene & Mrs Wade

Welcome back, Turtle Class!

I hope you’ve all had a fantastic summer and are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting new academic year of discovery, creativity and fun. We have lots of amazing learning ahead of us, including fascinating topics such as Rivers, Roman Britain, Coasts, and The Americas, to name just a few. Our PE days this year will be Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure children come to school wearing their PE kits on these days. We will have swimming lessons during Terms 1, 5, and 6 – this will be instead of one of our PE days – the day is still to be confirmed. At the beginning of every term, I will share on Class Dojo key topics in all subjects and important dates, so please look out for these.

I look forward to meeting parents in October to share your child’s progress, but in the meantime, please use Class Dojo if you have any queries or, alternatively, I will share my time between the car gate and walking gate at the end of the day and so feel free to grab me then. I’m a strong believer in teachers and parents working together to support your child’s learning journey. When we collaborate, we can help every child thrive both in and out of the classroom.

A key focus for homework this year will be reading and times tables. Hearing your child read – or reading to them – for just a small amount of time each day really helps build fluency and expand vocabulary. Likewise, confidence with times tables underpins almost everything we do in maths, so regular practice at home makes a big difference.

We are really looking forward to a fun, productive, and inspiring year ahead with you all!
