Penguin Class

Teacher: Miss Hassett

Welcome to Penguin Class!

This year, we have lots of exciting learning planned, including fascinating topics such as Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Stone Age to Iron Age and Mountain, Earthquakes and Volcanoes, to name just a few. As part of our DT curriculum, we will also get the chance to make some torches and follow a recipe to bake some cookies.

Our PE days this year will be Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure children come to school in their PE kits on those days. We’ll also have swimming lessons during Term 1 (other terms to be confirmed) which will replace one of our regular PE sessions each week – for Term 1 swimming lessons will take place on Thursday afternoons.

If you have any questions, you can contact me on Class Dojo or via email. Either way, I will get back to you as soon as possible, or arrange a phone call or meeting if needed.

This year, our homework focus will be on reading and times tables. Spending just a few minutes each day reading with your child – or listening to them read – really helps to develop fluency and vocabulary. Similarly, confidence with times tables is essential for many areas of maths, so regular practice at home makes a huge difference.

I’m very excited to get to know the new Year 4s in Penguin class and also to welcome back the Penguins from last year.  I am sure this year will be fun, as well as productive.
