Welcome to Turtle Class!

Welcome back to all of our Turtle Class families! We have an exciting year of learning ahead, with lots of interesting topics and opportunities for the children to develop their knowledge and skills.

Throughout the year, we will be exploring a range of fascinating subjects. In Computing, we will learn about Internet Safety, while in Science we will investigate Electricity. In RE, we will explore the Creation Story, and in DT, the children will have the opportunity to design and make their own torches.

PE and Swimming

Our PE days this year will be Tuesday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor). Please ensure that children come to school wearing their PE kits on these days.

We will also have swimming lessons during Terms 1, 5 and 6. Swimming will replace one of our regular PE sessions each week. During Term 1, swimming will take place on Tuesday afternoons.

Homework

Our main homework focus this year will be reading and times tables.

Reading regularly at home, even for just a few minutes each day, can make a real difference to children's fluency, vocabulary and confidence. You can support your child by reading with them, listening to them read, or talking together about the books they are enjoying.

Regular practice of times tables is also extremely important in Year 4. Developing fluency and confidence with multiplication facts will support children across many different areas of their maths learning.
