Girls on Board
Girls on Board is a programme designed to help girls, and boys, understand how girl-type friendships can work. It is also designed to encourage reflection on different aspects of the friendship dynamics, particularly when disagreements occur.
Girls on Board is delivered as a one-off lesson involving plenty of discussion within the class. It covers the underlying principal that all girls need a trusted and reliable friend in their class or year group, otherwise school can be an unhappy place to be.
Themes covered are:
* friendship group sizes – the pros and cons,
* girl-type behaviours,
* the limited effects adults can have or the difficulties when the adults do get involved,
* and finally when issues become bullying.
