School Day

SCHOOL TIMES

Foundation Stage

Morning session 8.45 am to 12.00 noon

Afternoon session 1.10 pm to 3:05pm

At first in the Foundation stage you will probably accompany your child right into the classroom. However the sooner you can help to establish their independence by encouraging them to enter alone the better for his/her self-esteem.

Meeting your child at the door at the end of the day and being interested in what has happened in school will make them feel that their own new life is important and worthwhile, particularly if you comment on how sensibly they enter and leave and how grown up they seem. Your approval will encourage your child to respond without feeling distressed.

KS1

Morning session 8.40 am to 12.00 noon

Afternoon session 1.10 pm to 3:05pm

Key Stage 1 pupils must be brought to their entrance doors. The teachers will be present from 8.40 am. Pupils must also be collected from their teacher at the end of the day.

Dolphin, Jellyfish and Penguin: enter and leave through their class doors.

Starfish and Turtle enter through the KS1 door.  Turtle leave this way, but Starfish leave through their class door.

Parking is available on the KS1 playground, which is accessible from Gorse Wood Road.

Please let the teacher know if someone other than yourself will be collecting your child. We will not hand over pupils to the care of adults other than parents unless we have authorisation to do so.

Ten minutes each day is taken for registration and twenty minutes for our statutory daily act of worship.

There is a twenty-minute break period during the morning.

The Foundation stage pupils will have a different arrangement in the morning session when their break time will be separate from that of the Key Stage 1 children.

The allocation of time provides for 21 hours 15 minutes actual teaching time per week. This excludes time spent on breaks, registration and worship. This slightly exceeds the minimum hours recommended by the Department for Education for Key Stage One pupils.
