Our School

Langafel is a friendly, happy and inclusive primary school. Aspiration, confidence, perseverance, team work and Koinonia are Langafel’s values. Our rules of ‘Be safe, be respectful and be positive’ set the tone across the school.

We are an average-sized primary school with 300 pupils on roll. We currently have one Reception Class who work in a large inside and outside area with a flexible open-plan space. In Key Stage 1 we have one year 1 class and two year 2 classes who also benefit from a large shared outdoor space and regular forest school sessions. Key Stage 2 are taught in mixed-age classes allowing the perfect opportunity for collaborative learning and teaching. We also have a Nurture class, led by our Forest School and Nurture lead.

Our Nurture UK status and Thrive trained practitioners mean wellbeing is key at Langafel, and The Ark houses a number of rooms for Thrive sessions, and Ark Breakfast Club.

Our facilities are the envy of all other local schools and include a gym, swimming pool, performing arts room, kitchen, an extensive field and woodland area. Allowing endless opportunities to plan and teach creatively. We are an OPAL Platinum School offering a range of zones such as a sandpit, monkey bars, tree climbing, mud kitchen and craft/play shed to allow children to experience the 16 types of play every lunchtime.

The school's specialist resourced provision, known in the school community as SLIC@Langafel (Socialise Learn Interact Communicate), is for autistic pupils with an EHCP who are offered a place by KCC SEN. There are currently 38 children in the provision who are taught in four specialist classes. The pupils from the SRP make use of the wonderful facilities within mainstream. Additionally, within the provision, the pupils benefit from four large well-resourced classrooms, speech and language rooms, a sensory room and a swing room. They also have access to their own contained outside spaces, including a playground with sensory apparatus and a well-equipped enclosed area on the school field.
